Dear praying friends,
It has been over a week now since we celebrated Doug’s life – in style. Thank you for upholding our family in prayer as we prepared, talked, laughed, cried, reminisced … and then as we held the service.
As Doug was such a family man who loved God, his girls, his grandkids, laughter and music, we put it all together with joy and thanksgiving as a family. The five girls and half of the grandkids sang and played some of Doug’s favourite hymns around the piano as friends and family filled the church. Little Shand and Talia danced during the last song, “Come to Jesus”, it was quite special.
After some words from colleagues, young Ben did the Bible reading, Psalm 71. Our girls had a recording of Doug humming a celtic hymn on his birthday. Renee accompanied him on the piano before our five daughters sung “Find us Faithful” by Steve Green. The girls eulogy was full of heartfelt stories and laughter, sprinkled with tears, then they finished off with “Through it All” and “My Tribute”.
And to finish off in true Doug Croot style, we scrolled through dozens of photos to the “Hallelujah Chorus”.
So we have a new season in our lives. One that has someone missing – but we are thankful that Doug is again whole, can see again, and is rejoicing in the presence of His Saviour.
Up in P.N.G., on May 28th Raylea graduates from High School – she invited me to join them in their celebration, and I am going!! I depart Perth late Sunday 11th, to Cairns, depart Cairns May 19th, for Goroka, P.N.G. After the graduation, I will travel with Bobby, Rhesa and girls down to Brisbane, spend a few days there, arriving back in Perth, June 3rd. It is all pretty exciting, and rather overwhelming, but I know I will be blessed yet again.
Thank you for journeying with us. For the part you have played in our lives. With love and thanks, Bev for the girls, too.
